The ACAPMA Conference in Canberra recently has been declared by attendees to be a success. Comments coming in have pointed to the quality of speakers, the interaction in the panel discussions and the general fun and networking at the social events as keys to making ACAPMA Conference 2010 the best yet.
Coming out of the Conference the ACAPMA Team has been challenged to become more engaged with regulators in planning and implementation of policy. To this end, Nic has been meeting with key Government and Opposition policy directors in the area of Competition, Biofuels, Transport and Finance.
Since the Conference Nic has been in meetings with the ACCC new Fuel Group Director, in Melbourne where he again outlined the concerns of Members. While in Melbourne Nic took several meetings on some exciting new product offerings for Members that will roll out in the coming months. It was then back to Sydney for meetings concerned with the delivery of driver training in our industry.
This week Nic is attending Trade Member UCB’s annual Conference where he will be meeting with retail suppliers and discussing the areas of innovation and supply chain management that were raised by Members at the ACAPMA Conference in Canberra.
Next week will see Nic first in Queensland, planning for next years Conference, then to Melbourne for the Freight Week Emergency Response Day – sponsored by ACAPMA and OAMPS Insurance Brokers. The week will wrap up with several meetings in Canberra to discuss Ethanol mandates and competition policy with the Hon. Bruce Billson MP and the Hon. Andrew Robb MP.
Nic will finish October with another trip to Melbourne, this time to attend the Committee meeting on the delivery of the National Certificate IV Qualification for Fuel and Gas Drivers that ACAPMA is driving with the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council.
As always remember that ACAPMA is a National Association and we have a National General Manager, he is never in the same spot long, but you can always get hold of him on 1300 160 270
Bye for now
