Caltex launches ethanol upgrade at Lytton terminal

Caltex has completed a major upgrade of one of its Queensland fuel distribution terminals to increase the use of ethanol-blended fuel.
New ethanol facilities have been installed at their Lytton terminal, with a statement from the company saying service stations in Brisbane and regional Queensland can now offer more Bio E10 unleaded petrol with 10 per cent ethanol.
The upgrade included a new storage tank capable of holding 900,000 litres of ethanol, and also an overhaul of its blending procedure installing an inline system.
The company spent about $3 million upgrading its terminal, with a similar upgrading occurring at Caltex’s Banksmeadow terminal.
Currently there are 93 Caltex service stations across Queensland and 228 nationwide offering Bio E10 unleaded petrol with 10 per cent ethanol and it is expected the fuel blend will become more popular as people look at ways of cutting their greenhouse gas emissions.
