Bio-diesel rollout still a year away
Posted Thu Jul 8, 2010 10:03am AEST
A fuel company given funding to roll out bio-diesel to regional Victoria says it is likely to be a year before the cleaner greener product is available commercially.
The Victorian Government has met half the cost of United Petroleum's $1.5 million biodiesel blending plant at Hastings.
The plant will allow the consistent distribution of about 20 million litres of B-5 and B-20 biodiesel to regional Victoria.
But United Petroleum's David Szymczak says it will still be some time before it will be available at the bowser.
"Once we get the design signed off we will go to construction," he said.
"I think that will probably be a 12 month process and we will start rolling it out across the state."
