SERVICES PROVIDED FOR MEMBERS BY ACAPMA INCLUDE:
- Present and promote members’ interests with government bodies – federal and state.
- Advice on industry developments that affect their operating activities and costs.
- Foster positive and productive working relationships with all major suppliers.
- Facilitate relevant training courses, e.g. trade practices compliance.
- Support and provide relevant industry information on:
- Federal and state legislation
- Codes of practice
- Industry codes and regulations
- Safety issues
- Environment matters
- Business issues
- Best practices
- Assist in coordination of Emergency Response call centre program and work closely with contractors on distributor specific ER plans and various mutual aid groups.
- Support of Environmental Services call centre program and work closely with contractors on distributor/reseller and retail compliance.
- On-going involvement with federal government’s Petroleum Market Reform process and the structure of the revised Oilcode.
- On-going contact with the ACCC on trade practices issues.
- Participation on state and federal government "working parties" in areas of terminal gate pricing,temperature correction, EPA issues and any other key industry issues.
- Distributor/reseller and convenience retailer contact with government and the media.
- Regular interface with other relevant industry bodies.
- Increasingly becoming a key "service provider", either directly or indirectly, as the major suppliers reduce their in-house services and support.
- An important part of our service to members relates to "workplace relations" and the following is provided to assist them in managing their workplaces effectively:
- Award information and interpretation
- General human resources advice
- Assistance in developing effective workplace agreements
- Advocacy before industrial tribunals
- Representation in unfair dismissal and discrimination cases
- Training courses for employers and employees include the areas of managing people in a
- workplace relations environment, i.e. discrimination, including harassment, bullying etc;
- recruitment and selection; performance management; termination; understanding legal
- obligations and responsibilities; and general workplace related trends
- Representation in negotiations/disputes with unions
While this area has a focus on the fuel distributor/reseller and retail industry, much of the information is generic in terms of what is required of employers and their employees in the workplace.
